Sunshine Auto Salvage is a self-service auto salvage yard in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Customers can find used auto parts, scrap metal, and vehicles for repair or recycling. The yard runs on a "u-pull-it" model—customers pay a small fee per vehicle, then remove the parts they need themselves.

Services & What to Expect

Sunshine Auto Salvage keeps things simple. Customers browse rows of salvaged vehicles to find parts for repairs or projects. The yard doesn’t sell parts directly—instead, you pay a fee to access a vehicle, then take what you need. This keeps costs low and gives you direct access to a wide range of makes and models.

How Self-Service Works

The process is straightforward: show up during business hours, pay the access fee (per vehicle), and use the tools provided to remove the parts you want. The yard offers basic tools like wrenches and jacks, but bring your own if you need something specialized.

Once you’ve taken the parts, you’re responsible for disposing of the rest of the vehicle or leaving it in the designated area if you don’t need it.

What Parts Are Available?

The yard stocks parts from both domestic and foreign vehicles, including:

  • Engines and transmissions (domestic and import)
  • Body panels (doors, hoods, fenders, bumpers)
  • Suspension and drivetrain parts (control arms, axles, differentials)
  • Electrical components (starters, alternators, wiring harnesses)
  • Interior pieces (seats, dashboards, door panels)
  • Scrap metal (copper, aluminum, steel)
Inventory changes often, so call ahead if you’re looking for something specific.

  • Vehicle disposal for customers who no longer need their car after part removal.

I went to Sunshine Auto Salvage looking for a transmission for my truck, and they had a few options—but the one I needed was the only one there. I brought $350, thinking that’d be enough since it’s a you-pull-it deal. Turns out, they wanted $367. I drove all the way from Columbia, and there was no way I could swing that. They don’t take cash refunds, only yard credit or exchanges, and since I didn’t see anything else I needed, I wasn’t about to leave with a $367 "gift card" for a junkyard 50 miles from home. The staff was friendly and helpful, but their prices are way higher than other places I’ve checked. Won’t be back. ---

The customer service here is terrible. You call, and they either put you on hold forever or just hang up. I waited ten minutes to call back twice, and both times, the same thing happened. No answers, no help—just wasted time. ---

Sunshine Auto Salvage is one of those places you stumble on and can’t believe exists. The selection of cars is insane—like, you could spend hours just walking around looking at everything. The people who work there know their stuff, and they actually make the whole experience easy. The yard itself is clean, organized, and way more put-together than most places like this. I’d rather browse here than half the stores at the mall. If you’re into cars or need parts, this is the spot. ---

If you’re looking for parts that are hard to find around here, Sunshine Auto Salvage is worth checking out. They’ve got a ton of stuff you wouldn’t expect—old models, rare pieces, things you’d usually have to hunt down. Give them a ring if you’re stuck trying to track something down. Might save you a lot of hassle.

Sunshine Auto Salvage is a well-run place. The only thing that could be better is if they had an online system to show which parts have already been sold off each car. Tiffany was a huge help, though—she handled a bunch of stuff at once while still making sure I got what I needed. Really appreciated her patience and the way she kept things moving. ---
