Overview

T & D Recycling in Pinetop-Lakeside, AZ

T & D Recycling is a self-service auto salvage yard and scrap metal recycling center behind The Antler Attic in Pinetop-Lakeside. Since 1998, this family-run business has helped locals find used auto parts and recycle scrap metal. Customers can browse wrecked vehicles themselves to pull parts or drop off metal for recycling.

What to Know Before Visiting

T & D Recycling is a self-service salvage yard where customers remove their own parts from wrecked vehicles. The yard carries common auto parts like engines, transmissions, tires, and mechanical components. Prices depend on the part's condition and demand.

How Self-Service Salvage Works

  • Bring your own tools—wrenches, sockets, and pry bars are usually needed.
  • Check parts carefully before buying. All sales are final, and parts are sold "as-is."
  • Pay at the office after you’ve removed the parts you want.
  • The yard doesn’t remove parts for customers or offer disassembly services.

Scrap Metal Recycling

The yard also recycles scrap metal, including:

  • Aluminum (cans, siding, wheels)
  • Steel (sheet metal, beams, appliances)
  • Copper (wiring, pipes)
  • Other non-ferrous metals

Prices for scrap metal follow current market rates. The yard may pay cash or offer trade-in credit, depending on the customer’s needs.

Other Services

T & D Recycling also offers:

  • Free pickup for large scrap metal items that customers can’t transport.
  • Trade-in options for junk vehicles (call for current policies).
  • Help finding specific parts in their inventory.

If you’re looking to sell an old vehicle, T & D Recycling may buy it for scrap. Call (928) 368-8270 to confirm their current policies.

Every time I swing by to drop off cans, I’m always hoping Don’s there—he’s the best. There’ve been a few times I showed up with a full load, only to find out he was out of town or something, so no can recycling that day. But honestly? Can’t blame the guy for having a life. That’s why I’m still giving five stars—he’s just that kind of person. Always remembers me, always friendly, and the little shop he runs has some seriously cool stuff. If you’re just passing through and want a unique souvenir or gift, it’s worth checking out. ---

This is the only recycling spot up here that pays a fair price, and the people running it are actually nice. Plus, their store carries these elk dog bones my dog goes crazy for—she won’t touch anything else now. ---

I spent forever sorting my crushed cans into his plastic drum, only for him to tell me the weight was 55 pounds minus 19 for the drum itself. Then he handed me a receipt that said 36 lbs for $10.80—that’s less than a third of a dollar per pound. Other places were paying over half that day. I save cans for the environment, but after this, I’m done. He even questioned why I’d want a receipt, like it was some weird request. And the way he acted—hesitant to give it, making me sign something—it all felt off. Someone should look into this place. ---

I called multiple times, and no one ever picked up. When someone finally did, they were so rude—told me if I wanted info on any vehicles, I’d have to come see them myself. Like, seriously? If I could’ve done that, I wouldn’t have called in the first place. Zero stars, no question.

The guy working there was straight-up rude. Told us to stand outside in the rain and wind for *twenty minutes* before finally showing up—if he even bothered. We ended up just dumping our cans and leaving without getting paid. Not worth the hassle, and we’re definitely not coming back. Skip this place. ---
