Overview

The Parts Store at E Kentucky Dr, Aurora, CO 80247

The Parts Store on E Kentucky Dr in Aurora is a self-service auto salvage yard where customers can pull their own parts from a large selection of used vehicles. This u-pull-it yard lets you browse the inventory, find what you need, and remove parts yourself. They focus on affordable used auto parts for repairs and restorations, with a mix of domestic and foreign vehicles. The yard also handles scrap metal if you need to recycle or dispose of old materials.

Unlike standard auto parts stores, this yard gives you direct access to a wide range of vehicles—cars, trucks, and SUVs—in different states of disassembly. You won’t find new parts here, but the used ones are often much cheaper than retail prices. If you’re looking for a specific part or need to salvage components, this is a practical option for DIY mechanics and car owners.

Services & What to Expect

The Parts Store is a self-service u-pull-it yard, meaning you can walk the lot, find the part you need, and remove it yourself. No appointment is needed, and staff are on hand to help with part identification or tool rentals if required.

How Self-Service Works

  • Browse the inventory: Vehicles are grouped by make, model, and year, though the exact layout may change. A map or directory is usually available at the entrance.
  • Locate your part: Use the vehicle’s VIN or part number to find the right car or truck. Staff can point you in the right direction if you’re unsure.
  • Remove the part: Basic tools are often provided, but you may need to bring your own if the part requires specialized equipment.
  • Pay for the part: Pricing depends on the vehicle’s condition and the part. You only pay for what you take, not the whole car.

What to Bring

  • Tools (if you don’t plan to use the yard’s tools)
  • Gloves and safety gear (the yard may not provide these)
  • Vehicle paperwork (if you’re pulling parts for a specific repair)
  • A list of parts you need (to save time)

Additional Services

Beyond self-service part removal, The Parts Store also offers:

  • Scrap metal services: If you have old vehicles, appliances, or metal debris to recycle, the yard may take them.
  • Tool rentals: Basic tools like wrenches, sockets, and pry bars are available for use on-site.
  • Part identification help: Staff can assist in finding the right part if you’re not sure where to look.

If you have an old car or truck you no longer need, consider selling it for scrap or parts. Many salvage yards, including local cash-for-cars buyers , pay for junk vehicles. This is a simple way to get rid of a non-running car while making some money.

Does The Parts Store buy junk cars?

The Parts Store is mainly a self-service salvage yard, but some auto salvage operations also buy junk cars for parts or scrap. If you have a non-running vehicle to sell, call the yard directly or check with local cash-for-cars buyers in Aurora.

What kind of parts can I find at The Parts Store?

The yard carries a variety of used auto parts from domestic and foreign vehicles, including:

  • Engines and transmissions
  • Body panels and bumpers
  • Interior parts (seats, dashboards, door panels)
  • Suspension and steering components
  • Electrical parts (wiring harnesses, alternators, starters)
  • Braking system parts (calipers, rotors, master cylinders)

The selection depends on what vehicles are in stock. Staff can help check if the part you need is available.

How does self-service auto salvage work at The Parts Store?

Self-service salvage means you enter the yard, find the vehicle with your part, and remove it yourself. Here’s how it works:

  1. Arrive during business hours and check in with staff.
  2. Look through the inventory by make, model, and year to find the right vehicle.
  3. Use provided or your own tools to remove the part.
  4. Pay for the part at the register before leaving.

Some yards require a waiver before entering, as self-service salvage can be physically demanding and involves sharp metal or heavy parts.

Do I need to bring my own tools?

The Parts Store usually provides basic hand tools like wrenches and sockets. If you need specialized tools (such as an engine hoist), bring your own. Always ask staff what’s available before starting.

Can I get a refund if a part doesn’t fit or is damaged?

Most salvage yards, including The Parts Store, don’t offer refunds for self-pulled parts. Parts are sold "as-is," and their condition can’t always be guaranteed. Inspect parts carefully before buying, and ask staff about their condition if you’re unsure.

Walked in expecting to just browse, but the woman at the counter—brown wavy hair, black glasses, spoke both English and Spanish—made it clear she’d rather be anywhere else. She had this way of talking down to her coworkers like they were an inconvenience, and when I asked a question, her answers came out flat, like she was reading from a script she hated. Not sure if she’s just burned out or thinks age gives her a free pass to be short with people, but it’s not a good look, especially when you’re dealing with customers during the holidays. Thankfully, the younger guy with the long black hair and actual uniform saved the day—he listened, didn’t rush me, and actually seemed to care. Without him, I would’ve walked out empty-handed. ---

Ordered a headlight assembly for my ’08 Honda Civic, and what showed up was for a completely different model. No call, no heads-up—just the wrong part. Not a great way to do business when you’re supposed to be selling reliability. Won’t be back.

Need a part? They’ve got it. And if you can’t make it in, they’ll even bring it to you. Simple as that. ---
