Overview

Tri-Miss Recycling at 416 W Woodrow Wilson Ave, Jackson, MS 39213

Tri-Miss Recycling is a self-service auto salvage yard and scrap metal recycling center in Jackson. Located at 416 W Woodrow Wilson Ave, it lets customers pull their own parts from junked cars and recycle scrap metal. Mechanics, DIYers, and car owners come here for affordable used parts or to get rid of old vehicles and metal. The yard runs on a first-come, first-served basis—no appointment needed. Just show up during open hours, though Saturdays close early at 11:30 AM.

Services & What to Expect

Tri-Miss Recycling offers two main services: self-service auto salvage and scrap metal recycling. The salvage yard holds hundreds of junked vehicles where customers can find and remove their own parts. You’ll find engines, transmissions, body panels, bumpers, and mechanical components. On the scrap metal side, the yard takes non-reusable metal from vehicles and other sources, paying customers by weight and material type.

How Self-Service Salvage Works

  • No staff help: You enter the yard, find your part, and remove it yourself. Basic tools may be on-site, but bring your own if you need something specific.
  • Pay at the gate: Prices are set per part. Have cash or a card ready to pay before leaving. The yard doesn’t offer credit or financing for parts.
  • No appointment needed: Walk-ins are welcome during open hours, but get there early on Saturdays—the yard closes at 11:30 AM. Weekdays run from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
  • Scrap metal drop-off: Bring in non-reusable metal for recycling. Payments depend on the type and amount. Copper, aluminum, and steel usually bring in the most money.

What to Bring

  • A valid driver’s license or government ID for verification.
  • Cash or a debit/credit card (some customers say cash gets you a better deal).
  • Basic tools if you plan to take apart parts on-site—wrenches, sockets, pry bars.
  • Gloves and safety gear if you’re handling sharp metal or heavy parts.
  • A truck, trailer, or vehicle with enough space if you’re taking large parts.

Customer Experience Notes

Reviews mention both the good and the quirks. Many customers like how fast the process is, especially for scrap metal drop-offs—some say they’re in and out in under 10 minutes. The staff is often described as friendly, particularly for first-timers. A few customers, though, say part prices can change after they’ve already removed something from a car. The area around the yard is industrial and a little rough, which might put some people off.

Location & Hours

Tri-Miss Recycling is at 416 W Woodrow Wilson Ave, Jackson, MS 39213. The yard sits in an industrial area near downtown, with easy access from I-55 and I-20. Parking is on-site, but it can get tight for larger vehicles. Just enter through the main gate during open hours.

Does Tri-Miss Recycling buy junk cars?

Tri-Miss Recycling focuses on self-service salvage and scrap metal recycling. If you need to sell a junk car, check out local cash-for-cars services that buy vehicles. Some scrap yards may take cars, but Tri-Miss doesn’t advertise this service.

What kind of parts can I find at Tri-Miss Recycling?

The salvage yard has a mix of junked cars, trucks, and SUVs. You’ll likely find:

  • Engines and transmissions
  • Body panels (doors, hoods, fenders, bumpers)
  • Suspension parts (control arms, struts, shocks)
  • Braking components (calipers, rotors, master cylinders)
  • Electrical parts (alternators, starters, wiring)
  • Interior pieces (seats, dashboards, trim)
Prices depend on the part’s condition and how many people want it. Some parts may need work to get them out.

How does self-service auto salvage work at Tri-Miss Recycling?

It’s simple:

  1. Show up during open hours and check in at the gate.
  2. Go into the yard and find the part you need in one of the junked cars.
  3. Take the part out yourself—bring your own tools if you need them (basic ones may be on-site).
  4. Show the part to staff, who’ll check it and give you a price.
  5. Pay with cash or card and take your part home.
No appointment is needed, but get there early on Saturdays—the yard closes at 11:30 AM.

Do I need to bring my own tools?

Tri-Miss Recycling may have basic tools, but it’s best to bring your own if you need something specific. Common tools customers use include:

  • Wrenches and sockets
  • Pry bars and screwdrivers
  • Hacksaws or bolt cutters (for tough parts)
  • Gloves and safety goggles
If you’re not sure what you’ll need, call ahead and ask about the part’s condition.

Is there a fee for entering the salvage yard?

No entry fee, but you pay for any parts you take. Some customers say prices can change after a part is removed, so always confirm the cost before you start working on it.

I showed up expecting a fair deal, but they waited until they had my stuff out to name a price—and it was way lower than it should’ve been. Got paid a fraction of what it was worth. Won’t waste my time coming back here. ---

Yeah, the neighborhood’s a little rough, but who cares when you can dump, get paid, and leave in 10 minutes? Nucor might pay a little more, but sitting in line for two hours just to unload a few tons isn’t worth it. The people here are friendly, and the speed makes up for any small difference in price. Nucor can keep their long waits—I’m done with that. ---

First time bringing scrap metal to recycle, so I don’t know if the payout was fair, but the whole process was smooth. Had a trailer full, and the staff helped unload it without any hassle. The woman at the counter was really nice, too. If I’ve got more to recycle, I’ll be back. ---

Some people say this place is the best, but I don’t feel welcome here. Sure, some folks were helpful, and I get that kindness matters, but if I don’t feel like I belong, I won’t keep coming back. Everyone’s got their own reasons, but this isn’t the place for me.

As a driver, this place works. Instructions were clear, the staff was helpful, and I was backed into the dock and loaded fast. Only downside is the tight space and having to back in from the road, but otherwise, it’s solid. I’d pick up here again no problem. ---
