Universal Used Auto Parts is a self-service auto salvage yard in Queens where customers can find and remove parts from junked vehicles. It runs on a "u-pull-it" model—visitors locate parts themselves, cut them out, and pay by weight. Mechanics, DIY car owners, and scrap collectors often stop here for affordable parts or materials.
The yard is open Monday through Saturday, with shorter hours on weekends. No appointment is needed—just bring your tools, a way to haul parts, and a valid ID.
Services & What to Expect
Universal Used Auto Parts is a straightforward salvage yard. The main service is self-service part removal: customers enter, find the vehicle they need, and take the parts themselves. The yard doesn’t sell pre-removed parts or offer disassembly services.
Visitors can:
Search for parts from totaled or abandoned vehicles
Cut out and remove parts with their own tools
Pay based on the weight of the parts taken
Hauling parts away in their own vehicle (no storage on-site)
The yard doesn’t provide tools, so customers must bring their own cutters, wrenches, and safety gear. A valid driver’s license or government ID is required for entry. While the yard doesn’t buy junk cars on-site, you can sell your junk car for cash through a licensed buyer.
Parts available change daily as vehicles come and go. Common finds include engines, transmissions, catalytic converters, body panels, and interior components. The yard focuses on older, domestic, and budget vehicles—not rare or high-end parts.

The parts guys at this place are just plain rude. They don’t care about customers at all. The one named Ojay especially—he won’t even let you finish talking before hanging up. No idea who the manager or owner is, let alone how to reach them. Terrible service, and they don’t deserve a single star.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Bought an engine listed as a direct bolt-on replacement, but when it showed up, it wasn’t. Had to swap out the timing chain cover, oil pan, ignition coils—none of which were mentioned. The guy who sold it to me, Dominick, flat-out refused a refund, saying I could only get store credit. Absolute liars and thieves. Don’t waste your time here.

I don’t usually leave bad reviews, but this place deserves a warning. Bought an engine from them back in April 2017, and not even a week later, I found a hole in the block. Since it was under warranty, I figured I’d get a replacement no problem. But after weeks of calling, talking to some guy named Nick, and getting the runaround—*"you’ll get it by this week,"* then *"tomorrow,"* then *"next week"*—I’m still waiting. Now it’s June 30th, and I’ve got nothing. No engine, no refund. I’m having to drag lawyers into this just to get what I’m owed. My advice? Stay far away.

Honestly, I was skeptical after reading some of the negative reviews online, but I figured I’d give them a shot anyway. Turns out, it was a good call—they gave me a fair price, and the whole experience was smooth. No attitude, no hassle, just straightforward service. The follow-up was solid too. I think some of the bad reviews probably came from people who don’t know how salvage yards work or expected something different. Either way, I’m happy with how it went.

The guy who helped me was fine at first, but the second I asked about the price, his whole attitude shifted. I ended up buying the part because I needed it fast and didn’t know any other places around here. Still, I left feeling like I got screwed. Wouldn’t go back there again.
