Overview

Weller Self-Serve - Wyoming, Michigan

Weller Self-Serve is a self-service auto salvage yard in Wyoming, Michigan. Customers can find used auto parts from junked vehicles and remove them themselves. The yard operates on a "you pull it" model, meaning visitors browse the lot, locate parts, and take them without help. It’s a good option for DIY mechanics, car owners needing repairs, or those hunting for hard-to-find parts.

Services & What to Expect

Weller Self-Serve is for customers who want to save money by finding their own auto parts. The yard doesn’t sell parts directly—instead, visitors search the lot for vehicles that fit their needs and remove the parts themselves. Basic tools like wrenches, pry bars, and jack stands are available on-site, but customers should bring their own safety gear (gloves, goggles) and any specialized tools needed for their vehicle.

How Self-Service Works

  • Search the lot: Vehicles are grouped by make, model, and year, but the layout isn’t always clearly marked. A map or directory is usually at the entrance.
  • Locate your part: Use the vehicle identification number (VIN) or part number to match vehicles. Common parts like engines, transmissions, and doors are easier to spot than others.
  • Remove the part: Tools are provided, but customers must disassemble and take the parts themselves. The yard doesn’t offer professional disassembly.
  • Pay for the part: Pricing depends on the vehicle’s core charge (a refundable deposit) and the part’s condition. The core charge is refunded when the part is returned, if applicable.

What Parts Are Available?

Weller Self-Serve carries a variety of used auto parts, including:

  • Engines and transmissions (common models in stock)
  • Body panels (doors, fenders, hoods, bumpers)
  • Interior parts (seats, dashboards, trim)
  • Suspension and drivetrain parts (control arms, axles, differentials)
  • Electrical components (alternators, starters, wiring harnesses)
  • Braking systems (calipers, rotors, master cylinders)
The selection changes daily as vehicles are added or sold. Rare or high-demand parts may not always be in stock.

Tools & Safety

The yard provides basic hand tools, but customers should bring:

  • Work gloves and safety goggles
  • A jack and jack stands (if removing heavy parts)
  • Socket sets and wrenches (for specific vehicle needs)
  • A vehicle to transport parts (some parts are bulky)
Weller Self-Serve doesn’t clean or test parts. Customers must check part condition before buying.

Honestly, this is my go-to spot for pulling parts myself. The prices here are way better than anywhere else I’ve checked. The only thing that’s a pain is that they don’t have an easy way to see if they’ve got the part you need in stock—you just have to keep calling or stopping by to check. ---

They’ll charge you $2 just to walk in the yard, but they won’t mention that up front unless you ask. Annoying, but whatever. The place is actually really useful for finding parts. They don’t offer any warranty on what you buy, but if you want one, you can pay full price and return it if it’s junk. Otherwise, you get 20% off with no questions asked. Still worth the trip. ---

This place is a goldmine for cheap car parts—saved me a ton of money. Picked up a battery that tested at over 1000 ohms for just $30. Also grabbed some jumper cables, and the price was right. The staff knows their stuff too. Couldn’t ask for better. ---

Found the exact car I needed for parts, and it had way more than I was looking for. The part I wanted was stuck on tight, so I couldn’t get it off without breaking it—but I ended up with a center console lockbox and some heavy-duty headlight wraps for my push bar instead. The cashier was super into my car and chatted me up the whole time. For $60, I got stuff that would’ve cost me $850 new. No brainer—10/10 for price, service, and vibes. ---

My car’s been needing a new battery for months, and I was tired of jumping it every time. Instead of dropping $200+ on a brand-new one, I found a used one here for $40—or $30 if you bring in your old battery. You just gotta match the size they’ve got in stock, and luckily, they had mine that day. Works just as good as new, no complaints. Timing was perfect.
