What to Know Before You Visit

Windsor Auto Salvage is a self-service yard where you search for parts on your own. The lot has cars, trucks, and SUVs in different states of disassembly. Common parts include engines, transmissions, body panels, bumpers, interior pieces, and mechanical components.

You’re responsible for finding, removing, and paying for parts. Bring your own tools—wrenches, sockets, ratchets, and pry bars are usually needed. Some parts may need special tools, so check ahead or call to confirm. Staff can help identify parts and give prices but won’t remove parts for you.

The yard also recycles scrap metal like steel, aluminum, and copper. While they don’t advertise cash-for-cars, you can call (352) 237-6862 to ask if they take vehicles. For other local options, check our junk car buyers page.

Prices depend on the part’s condition and demand. Some parts are sold by weight, others at fixed prices. Payment is due at purchase—cash, credit, or debit, depending on what they accept. Receipts are usually given.

There’s no online parts catalog, so you’ll need to visit in person. Staff can sometimes tell you if a part is likely in stock. If you’re looking for something rare, call ahead to avoid a trip for nothing.

I called around for hours trying to find a rim for my truck, and most places either didn’t have what I needed or acted like I was wasting their time. Cathy at this junkyard, though? She didn’t just find the right one—she made sure I left with it. No attitude, no runaround, just straight-up help. Meanwhile, the guy at Quarnos Auto couldn’t even be bothered to check the bolt pattern. Told me to drive 145 miles round-trip like it was nothing. Not worth the hassle. ---

I’ve bought parts from a lot of places over the years, and most of them are hit or miss. Eddie here, though? The guy knows his stuff. Didn’t try to upsell me, didn’t waste my time—just answered my questions and got me what I needed. That’s rare in this business. ---

Eddy and his team made what could’ve been a pain in the ass totally easy. Walked in, told them what I was looking for, and they had it ready in no time. No bullshit, no attitude—just good service. If I need parts again, I’m coming back here. ---

Skip this junkyard. Bought an engine with a warranty, and it turned out the crankshaft and camshaft seals were shot. Told me I should’ve replaced them before installing it—like, what’s the point of buying a used engine if I’m supposed to tear it apart first? They refused to honor the warranty, and now I’m stuck putting the whole thing back together. Still haven’t heard a word from them. If I lived closer, I’d show up in person just to see if they’d actually own up to it. But since they can hide behind emails and phone calls, they don’t have to. Don’t waste your money.

My friend just had heart surgery, so I was calling around trying to track down an alternator for his car without making him drive anywhere. Most places either didn’t know what they had or told me to come in and dig through their lot myself. Then I called Windsor, and this guy—Jeremy, I think—picked up the phone and actually *listened*. Took my name, asked the right questions, and by the time we hung up, he’d already pulled the part. When we got there, he and Frankie treated us like family. Ended up talking for a while, and honestly, they’re the kind of people you don’t mind doing business with. Oh, and they buy junk cars too if you’ve got one to sell. After dealing with every other place that morning, this was the only one that didn’t feel like a chore. ---
