Found a yard that’s actually open on Saturdays when just about every other scrap yard is shut. Nice surprise on the weekend, and the people working there are helpful—made the whole process quick.

Walked into this place thinking I’d get a fair deal since I called ahead and gave them a heads-up—drove over an hour, was running late, but they said just get there by 4:00. Showed up at 3:57. Still ended up being sent to the regular scrap side to drive over, even though maybe ten percent of what I had was regular metal. The rest was all stainless and some copper. Wound up with a twenty-six dollar check, same as if I’d just tossed random junk in the back. Left feeling played, especially after spotting that sign outside that said separate your scrap or take the lower price for everything. My stuff was already separated. If they couldn’t be bothered to weigh another load before closing, they should’ve mentioned it up front. Not touching this place again. Questionable scales at another yard beats an outright scam.

Plenty of other junkyards in town that won’t treat you like garbage. ---
