I stopped by EMR in St Paul for the first time, and man, I was blown away. The place is massive, well-staffed, and super organized. The office crew knew their stuff about metal recycling, and I was really impressed. Big thanks to everyone there. I’ll definitely be back the next time I need something.

The front desk didn’t do a great job explaining how the weigh-in process works, and the yard worker was flat-out rude. The website says they help unload vehicles, but this guy just stood there when I pulled up. I asked if my grill could count as stainless steel, and he told me to find the stainless guy—which, honestly, wasn’t happening since he was already clocking out. Figured I’d just sell it as shreddable and call it a day. Not the smoothest experience.

Don’t bother stopping here unless you’re a business with a big haul—they’re not set up for regular folks. I brought in some aluminum cans like they claim to accept, and the staff acted like I was wasting their time. Even worse, their website says there’s a public bathroom, but when I asked, they told me they don’t offer that to non-employees. Not the best first impression. The front desk guy was short with me when I asked which way to drive around the building—I had to ask twice just to get a straight answer. When I came back to collect my pay, he barely looked at the stub before shaking his head like my payout was some kind of insult. Usually the people here are fine, but today just felt off. Might have to stick with my usual spot after this.

Just a quick update after my last review—EMR in St Paul finally got their in-house AMT machine up and running. I’ll be telling all the scrappers I know to come back here. The employees are great, especially the office folks. Only reason I’m not giving five stars is because of how they handle payments lately. For over ten years, I’ve sold scrap here, but the past year’s been rough—checks aren’t getting processed right. I’ve had to wait over an hour multiple times just to cash a check. I’ve talked to other scrappers who’ve stopped coming because of this mess. They need to fix this simple issue before word spreads. Hope they get the ATM running too—I don’t want to see a good company lose business over something so fixable. Mr. Schaefer

Had to coordinate from out of state, and they made it easy—no hassle, just got it done. ---

I asked if I should separate my aluminum siding (70¢/lb) from the extruded stuff (80¢/lb), and they just said no. Then they quoted me sheet pricing (50¢/lb). Wasted my time and money, and their follow-up communication is a mess. ---

Pro Scrapper’s place is solid. No fuss getting in, cash in hand fast, and the location’s convenient. ---

The guys at the front were nice and made it quick, but that dock door C? Tight squeeze—you’ll fit, but it’s not exactly smooth. ---

One star because their check-in is a nightmare. Pull up in a semi with a load number and destination, and it’s still not enough. After hiring you to pick up, they’ll make you wait forever for some email “confirming your identity.” What the hell? If I’m doing a relay, who cares who I am—just load the damn truck. Absolute waste of time. And don’t even get me started on the dock. The dry van spot is painfully tight, with employee parking right in the way. Plan on 30 minutes just trying to line it up right. Avoid this place if you can—it’s the worst I’ve dealt with in a while.
