Frederick Scrap, Inc at 8097 Hillmark Ct, Frederick, MD 21704

Been bringing my scrap to Frederick Scrap for about a year now, and they’ve always been straight with me. Today I dropped off some metal, wire, and aluminum. After unloading the metal, I went to dump the aluminum and talked to the older guy who handles precious metals. I told him I’d separated it all and asked him to double-check a few pieces just to be sure. He’s not much of a talker—just mumbles a bit—but that’s fine by me. He checked the stuff, didn’t say a word, and then rang me up. Turns out, he’d only counted it as sheet metal. I went back and pointed it out, and he just said, *"Look, it’s metal."* Two pieces of gutter and one pot—that’s all he saw as metal. I’m trying to be honest in this messed-up world, but when a place I deal with all the time pulls something like this, it stings. You never know who’s gonna look out for you or not. Stay sharp, stay safe. ---

First time at this scrap yard, and they were really nice. They were even giving out free hotdogs as part of some customer appreciation thing—first time there, and they still hooked me up. Definitely gonna come back next time I’ve got scrap to drop off. ---

These guys tried to screw me over hard. They knocked off 700 pounds from my weigh-in and then took another 300 for a little fabric and cardboard. I made them check the camera to prove the real weight, and they finally added back 1,000 pounds. Felt like they were just trying to keep my money. On top of that, their payout rate was a whole dollar less per hundred pounds than the place next door. Absolute scam. Never going back, and I’d warn anyone else to avoid this place. ---

Frederick Scrap really messed me over. I spent forever breaking down an old heat pump, separating the copper, aluminum, and steel, only to get paid like it was all just sheet iron. When I got there, they sent me to the wrong spot—told me to drop it in a dump area where a machine was just scooping everything into a pile. By the time I realized what happened, they’d already mixed my stuff in and paid me $19 for it. I asked about the copper and aluminum, and they said I should’ve taken it somewhere else. Too late, though—they’d already dumped it all. I got ripped off, and the whole experience was a mess. Won’t be back, and I’d tell anyone else to stay away too. ---

Took in a couple of busted-up riding mowers, and instead of charging me to get rid of them, they actually paid me. The people there were super friendly and easy to work with. I’ll definitely be coming back whenever I’ve got scrap to sell.
