We've been going to this scrap yard for years with zero problems—until now. This was really unexpected for us. Last time we stopped by, one of the equipment operators came up to my driver while he was dumping a load. It got bad fast. The operator got out of his machine and practically got in his face, yelling about getting physical. My guy didn’t back down. Later, the operator filed a report with the front office. The staff admitted we’d never caused trouble before and that the operator was new on the job. We came back a week later. The office let us weigh in, but midway through unloading, suddenly we were told to leave. No warning. No call. No nothing. If they didn’t want us there anymore, they should’ve told us before we drove out there, wasted gas, and spent extra time trying to get rid of the load. When my driver asked why we hadn’t been told beforehand, they basically said it’s tough to find help, so we had to be the ones to go. I’m writing this because they showed no respect for our time, our schedule, or the years we’ve given them our business. Nobody should get in a customer’s face like that, especially not an employee with a machine behind him. I get they can choose who they work with, but they need to talk to us before they shut us out. This whole thing was avoidable. After all those years without a single issue, this is what we get? Unnecessary, disorganized, and handled badly.

Morris Scrap has been family-run for decades. I’ve bought and sold there through three generations, and they’ve always treated me right. Every time, the guys working there were quick to lend a hand.

The thing is, for big loads, 20 pounds isn’t a huge deal, but for smaller stuff? It adds up fast. Other people have said they get ripped off selling here, and now I believe it. The staff is fine, but the scale is unreliable. If you’re just grabbing a small piece, it’s probably not worth the headache—even if the prices on new angle iron are actually decent. ---

Called ahead to ask about copper wiring with rubber coating and was told $3.10 a pound. The woman on the phone seemed to know exactly what I was talking about—no confusion at all. But when I showed up with the wiring, she suddenly played dumb at the pay window. If she’d just been honest on the phone, I would’ve stripped it myself. Instead, she cheated me out of about a hundred bucks. From what I’ve read, this seems to be a common trick here. Not worth the hassle.

This place is a total scam. The guy at the scale took one look at my 500 pounds of copper and called it “wire harness” just to mark it down. Yeah, I get it—if the wiring isn’t stripped, they’ll dock you. But they’ll lowball it so bad it’s not even worth the effort, and you won’t realize it until you’ve already dumped everything in the bin. The lady at the desk was nice, but not nice enough to make up for getting robbed. Do yourself a favor—take your scrap somewhere else. ---
