I drove all the way out to the recycling center, only to get there and see the sign saying they’re closed on Sundays. Who even plans for that? I work five days a week—when am I supposed to take my stuff? And it’s not like they’re open late on Fridays either, because apparently, that’s when everyone pays their water bill. So now I’ve got to figure out what to do with my trash on the weekend. Just great. ---
The dumpster bins are almost always overflowing, which is annoying. They also stopped taking single-use plastic grocery bags, and now they don’t accept electronics or anything with petroleum in it. But at least you can still drop off yard waste, and they’ve got free mulch if you need it. Small wins, I guess.
This place is actually pretty well set up for self-service—you can grab what you need without waiting around. They even have free wood mulch, which is a nice bonus. Just don’t use it in your garden or anywhere you’re trying to grow plants, though. It’s made from ground-up pine, and that stuff can mess with your soil. But if you’re looking to cover pathways or do some zero-scaping, it works just fine. ---
They redid the parking at the recycling center, and honestly, it’s a lot better now. No more circling around trying to find a spot. The only downside is that some mornings, the bins—especially the glass and clear plastic ones—get packed way too fast. Other than that, though, it’s a solid setup. I’ll snap a few pictures next time I’m there to show how it looks. ---
Getting in and out is super easy, and they’ve expanded what they take—now it’s plastic #3 through #7, glass, newspaper, cardboard, steel cans, aluminum, all the way up to #1-7 plastics, and even milk jugs. You can just load up your own stuff, no hassle. Oh, and there’s a brush pile area too, which is handy for a smaller town like ours. ---
