Honestly, I was surprised by how decent this place was after reading some of the terrible reviews online. The staff was actually pretty friendly, especially the guy at the gate—he was the one who helped me out the most. You’ve got to stop and chat with him first, though, and if it’s busy, you might be waiting a bit. They use channel 31 on the CB radio for the regular drivers, so if you’ve got one, that’s how they’ll talk to you. If you don’t know what a CB is, I don’t know what to tell you—just roll with it. If you’re driving a dry van, they’ll probably send you to Building One, which is on your left when you’re on the scale. Once you back into a dock, you check in inside the building behind Dock Three. They’ll put a stop sign in front of you and chock your tires while you’re there. After you’re done, they come out, move the sign and the chocks, and have you pull forward so they can seal your trailer. Then you pull back onto the outbound scale and wait for the green light. Once you get that, you’re free to go—just park off to the side and walk all the way back to where you checked in to grab your papers. The only real downside was the bathroom situation—it was just a couple of outhouses, which is why I’m knocking off a star. But overall, it was a smooth experience for a recycling yard. The place was cleaner than I expected, and the whole process was straightforward. Not bad at all.

The line was long, but the pay was better than ABC Salvage. Simple as that. ---

Nobody here wants to help you. You pull in, and it’s just blank stares and sighs like you’re wasting their time. There’s not even a sign telling you where to go, so you’re left driving in circles until someone finally points you in the right direction—if you’re lucky. The whole place feels like they’d rather you just disappear. ---

Look, I don’t have time for this nonsense—most of the people here act like they’re doing you a favor just by existing. Derrick, Anthony, and the kid running the express lane computer? Fine, I guess. But the two in the scale house? Absolute garbage. The Black woman and Joe—especially Joe—need to check themselves. Today, this idiot stormed out yelling at me because their radiation detectors were "beeping in his ear." Newsflash, buddy: there’s not a single warning sign anywhere. I backed off the scale, secured my door—what more do you want? I’ve never even been inside that scale house, so how was I supposed to know your alarm was blaring? If your ears are sensitive, take it up with management. Put the damn alarm outside where customers can hear it instead of acting like it’s my fault. ---

I’ve been coming here since I was a kid, and I’d have given it five stars—until today. Now? Never again. The new crew are a bunch of lazy kids who act like they’re too good to do their jobs. That’s it. That’s the review.

Brought a friend in to cash out some scrap copper—pure wire, mostly 00 gauge braided and some 12-16 gauge solid, with the insulation burned off so it looked gray from the carbon buildup. Felt like about 35 pounds, and he walked out with $102 on September 3, 2024. We got there around 11 AM, and for once, there was only one person in the drive-through. Took him maybe 10 minutes to get his ticket cashed, so the whole thing was done in under 20. That said, most of the time, there’s a line at the cash window, and you can easily burn an hour waiting. The staff? Hit or miss. Some are fine—polite, quick, no issues. Others act like you’re wasting their time, rolling their eyes, treating you like you’re there to scam them. I get it—some people coming in probably *are* looking for quick cash for not-great reasons. But that doesn’t mean you get to be a jerk. You don’t know their story, and honestly, if you believe in free will, you should still treat people decently. (Yeah, I went there. Sue me.) Oh, and the recycling area smelled like ozone—stronger than outside, even with the big openings. Probably from the motors in there. Not sure if it’s brushes (if they even *have* brushes) or just bad ventilation, but it can’t be great for the people working in there all day. ---
