Grew up coming here with my dad, and now it’s my turn to keep the tradition going. Feels like home every time I walk in—probably the most welcome I’ve ever felt at any place in Houston. Can’t wait for all the years ahead.

Moved to Houston not too long ago, so I called a buddy of mine who’s been around here forever. He’s an electrician, so I figured he’d know where to send me for scrap. He said, *"Go to Astro City—you’ll like it."* And man, was he right. I’ve been to scrap yards in five different states, and Astro City was by far the best. One guy pointed me to where to park, another rolled up with a cart to unload my truck, and then the first guy came back with an ice-cold bottle of water. Meanwhile, a third guy explained that since it was my first time, I’d get a check today (which I could cash for free at Frost Bank, just two doors down). But now that I’m in their system, they’ll just pay me cash on the spot. Oh, and they post their prices online every morning. No guessing, no haggling—just straightforward, fair prices. Easiest, nicest experience I’ve ever had at a scrap yard. ---

Look, I got banned from this place over a Google review—whatever, their loss. Honestly, they could’ve just let me pull over and talk it out, but since they’re acting like this, I’ll say what I really think. My review wasn’t gonna hurt their business anyway; they get all their money from big commercial loads, and half the time they don’t even bother checking what’s in them. Just toss it on the scale, boom, payday. They’re super lenient with traders bringing in bulk scrap from their jobs, but if you’re some random person showing up with random pieces? Oh, they’ll inspect the hell out of it just to knock the price down. They hate having to sort through valuable stuff when they’d rather deal with simple, easy-to-weigh bulk. I ended up finding another scrap yard nearby—Houston Metals, I think—about 15 minutes away, and they pay just as well. They take everything: pots, pans, ferrous metal, you name it. I brought in some material with liquid nails still stuck on it (not just a thin layer of glue like in the picture), and they took it as clean. And hey, free fountain drink at the payment booth? Not bad. Now, I’m not gonna lower my stars just to be petty—I respect their prices and the hardworking crew they’ve got. But some of the guys can be real snotty to regular folks. One of them straight-up told me, *"Nah, I ain’t looking through that"* when I was trying to sell a bin of mixed materials. It’s frustrating when they act like that.

Hands down, this is the best scrap yard I’ve ever dealt with. They don’t rush you—they actually take the time to make sure you’re getting the most money for what you bring in. No cutting corners, no trying to lowball you. If you’ve got good stuff, they’ll pay you right. ---

First time selling scrap here, and I picked this place because of the live prices on their website. No games, no hidden fees—just what you see is what you get. I had a decent load, so I figured I’d be there a while. But these guys? They moved fast. Had my truck unloaded and the material on the scale in maybe 20 minutes. No waiting around, no nonsense.
