Overview

OmniSource Corporation - Fort Wayne, Indiana

OmniSource Corporation on Maumee Avenue in Fort Wayne sells used auto parts and recycles scrap metal. The yard has wrecked and retired vehicles where customers can remove parts themselves. It also sells scrap metal to those disposing of vehicles or metal materials. Customers enter the yard to find and pull their own parts.

Services & What to Expect

The Fort Wayne location lets customers bring their own tools to remove parts from vehicles they choose. They pay only for the parts they take, not entire vehicles. The yard focuses on late-model domestic and import cars, with new inventory arriving regularly.

Bring your own tools, gloves, and safety gear. A vehicle that can handle rough ground is recommended. The yard is cash-only and keeps a secure environment for part removal. Staff handle payments but won’t help remove parts or load vehicles.

Customer experiences

Some customers say check-in and checkout are quick. Others mention inconsistent wait times for unloading and messy conditions. Several reviews note long waits during busy times and trouble finding their way around the yard.

Really polite folks over there, and the place feels solid on safety – didn't have any worries the whole time I was browsing.

The staff here are actually decent to deal with, and the place feels safe—no sketchy vibes or weird characters lurking around.

Took them five or six hours just to load my stuff. Absolute joke of a yard, honestly.

I’ve been to a bunch of OmniSource yards, and this one is by far the most poorly run. Even on a good day, it takes two hours just to unload a truck, and if there are more than seven ahead of you? You’re looking at five hours. The way they handle unloading makes zero sense—it’s like they’re doing it on purpose to waste time. Management should go watch how the Indianapolis location does it and take notes. Bring your own food, drinks, and a bucket if you need to pee, because there’s no bathroom here. This place is a nightmare.

This place is a total mess—nobody seems to know where anything goes, and the lot is just a giant mud pit. They clearly don’t care about keeping it clean or functional. The gravel they use is the cheapest stuff, spread out so thin it’s useless—just a half-inch layer that turns to mud the second someone drives on it. It’s like they’re trying to save money by doing the bare minimum. Someone needs to actually fix this place and put down proper stone instead of this half-baked nonsense.

Check-in and checkout were quick—took about an hour—but the yard itself is a disaster. Filthy, cluttered, and not somewhere you’d want to spend time. After dealing with this mess, I won’t be bringing food loads here again. The space is cramped, unsafe, and there’s no parking or place to stay overnight.
