The staff were so friendly and extremely helpful!
I GOT RIPPED OFF!! I had a bearing pressed into a hub a few years back and got charged $31. I thought that was very reasonable for the job so I came back recently with both spindles off of the same car. They charged me over $60 per side! My bill was over $122 in total! I brought up this inconsistency to the manager and he was IMPOSSIBLE TO DEAL WITH!
PLEASE DO NOT TRUST THIS SHOP, GO ELSEWHERE!!
Mark was super nice and knowledgeable! My husband said this was the first time he's ever had auto service and walked away completely satisfied
Arnold's in Ames is a complete rip off, and they DO NOT care to help out the customer. I work on my own vehicles but I do have to have people do stuff sometimes because I do not have the tools. So I had arnold's press a bearing for me, cost me $60 just like the other guy. Only for 3mns later the bearing goes bad because they ruined my hub by jamming something in between the hub and bearing to get the bearing off. scrapping the hub. so when they pressed it the seal did not properly set, releasing all the grease, and letting dirt in, which causes the bearing to go bad. In 3mns! I go there to basically get a new bearing and get it pressed for free, they refuse, say that it was not their fault it is because the bearing is bad, and they say it's impossible for the the way they press it to have anything to do with the bearing going bad, yet you can SEE they scratch marks on the hub! so they refuse to pay for it, they will not press it out to see what exactly the problem was unless i pay for it. and now they tell me because I raised such a stink with them they will not press any more bearings for me. WOW what a great place! thank you so much for helping out the local customer, and telling me that the customer is always wrong. Get your bearings pressed somewhere else, like a mechanic you trust, don't have Arnold's do it. Oh yeah, also called the headquarters, and without even looking at anything the guy tells me that sealing the bearing right cannot release the grease in the bearing, and that it was the bearing that went bad, so basically was my fault and the fault of the bearing I purchased, not ARNOLD'S. May I remind you, bought to identical bearings for the front of my car, has the driver side put in by a mechanic, this was in 2011, bearing is still good and holding strong. Not long after that bearing I had the passenger side pressed in by Arnold's, 3mn later that “bearing went bad” hmmmm how can that be, there the same freaking bearing! DO NOT GO TO THEM YOU WILL GET RIPPED OFF!! even if you would just like your money back this manager is impossible to deal with, will not work with you, does not care about the customer!!!
