C & H Auto Parts Trucks & Salvage: Your Kansas City Junkyard Solution
Located at 7800 E Truman Rd, Kansas City, MO 64126, C & H Auto Parts Trucks & Salvage has been serving the automotive needs of Kansas City and surrounding areas since 1992. With over 30 years in the industry, this full-service salvage yard has established itself as a go-to destination for quality used auto parts, especially for classic and older vehicles.
Establishment and History
Since opening their doors in 1992, C & H Auto Parts Trucks & Salvage has built a reputation for providing reliable parts and services. While the search results don’t specify the founders, customer reviews mention Donnie and Barbara as key contacts, suggesting they may be the current owners or managers.
Their three-decade presence in the Kansas City automotive industry speaks to their staying power in a competitive market. As a full-service junkyard, they’ve adapted to the changing automotive landscape while maintaining their focus on quality service and hard-to-find parts.

Full-Service Removal
Staff assists with part removal
No need for tools or expertise to remove parts yourself
Used Vehicle Sales
Pre-owned vehicle inventory
Affordable transportation options
C & H Auto Parts operates as a full-service junkyard, meaning their staff help remove parts for customers, unlike self-service yards where you do the work yourself. This approach provides convenience for customers who may not have the tools or expertise to remove parts on their own.
Their junk car buying service includes free towing and same-day pickup, making it easy to sell your unwanted vehicle. They also offer shipping services for customers outside the local area, as evidenced by a review mentioning they shipped a bumper to California.
Customer testimonials highlight their ability to source rare parts for classic vehicles, like a 1983 Caprice Classic station wagon, that other junkyards couldn’t find. This specialization in older models sets them apart from many other salvage yards that focus primarily on newer vehicles.
Vehicle Types and Inventory
While specific inventory details for C & H Auto Parts aren’t listed in the search results, typical salvage yards like C & H handle a wide range of vehicles including:
Cars: Domestic and foreign makes and models
Trucks: Light-duty and heavy-duty, including semi-tractors
Vans: Passenger and cargo varieties
SUVs: Various sizes and capabilities
The yard likely maintains a rotating inventory of vehicles, with parts from both older classics and newer models. Their inventory practices probably involve processing many vehicles annually to ensure they have fresh stock, similar to other salvage operations that process thousands of vehicles each year.
The truck focus in their name suggests they may specialize in truck parts, which could include popular makes like Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge, and GMC, along with imported brands. This focus would serve the needs of both personal truck owners and commercial fleet operators in the Kansas City area.
For the most accurate inventory information, it’s best to contact C & H directly, as their stock changes regularly as vehicles are acquired and parts are sold.

The most commonly purchased used auto parts at salvage yards like C & H Auto Parts typically include high-cost items where buying used offers significant savings. Engines and transmissions top the list due to their high replacement cost when purchased new. These powertrain parts can save customers hundreds or even thousands of dollars compared to new prices.
Body panels and bumpers are also in high demand, particularly for collision repairs. When a vehicle has been in an accident, finding matching used body parts can save substantial money compared to new OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts.
Suspension parts like shocks, struts, and control arms are popular purchases that can be safely bought used. Many customers head to salvage yards for quality used suspension parts when facing expensive suspension repairs.
Electrical parts such as alternators, starters, and ECUs (Engine Control Units) are frequently purchased used due to their high new-part costs and compatibility with older vehicles. A cheap used car starter from a junkyard can get your car running again at a fraction of the cost of a new one.
Interior parts like seats, dashboards, and steering wheels are popular for customization or restoring vehicle aesthetics. Many car enthusiasts look for quality used car seats at local junkyards to upgrade their vehicle’s comfort and appearance.
For trucks specifically, parts like truck beds, tailgates, and heavy-duty suspension parts would likely be popular at C & H given their truck focus.

For customers outside their immediate service area, their shipping options expand their reach throughout the United States. As mentioned in customer reviews, they’ve shipped parts as far as California, demonstrating their ability to serve customers nationwide.
Interchange System and Part Finding
C & H Auto Parts focuses on providing classic and hard-to-find auto parts, particularly for older vehicles. While they don’t appear to use a formal computerized interchange system based on the available information, their operational approach suggests a manual, inventory-driven method to assist customers in locating compatible parts.
Their staff expertise is a key part of their service model. Team members like Donnie and Barbara (mentioned in reviews) help customers identify the right parts through their knowledge of vehicle compatibility. This personal assistance approach contrasts with the digital databases used by some larger chain salvage yards.
For customers seeking specific parts, C & H offers direct part sourcing. This involves staff members searching through their inventory to locate exact matches or compatible alternatives. They’re particularly noted for finding parts for older models like a 1983 Caprice Classic station wagon that other salvage yards couldn’t supply.
Their shipping support provides an added convenience for customers who find rare parts. As one review mentioned, they helped ship a bumper to California, properly packaging it for safe transport.
When you’re looking for used auto parts, having knowledgeable staff who understand compatibility across different makes and models can be more valuable than a computerized system, especially for classic vehicles where digital records may be incomplete.

3. Do they cater to older or classic vehicles?
Yes, C & H is noted for specializing in classic and older vehicles, particularly those for which parts are scarce elsewhere. A customer review highlights their success in locating a bumper for a 1995 Ford Taurus and parts for a 1983 Caprice Classic, emphasizing their niche in vintage automotive needs.
4. How do they handle part shipping?
For customers outside their local area, C & H arranges shipping services. For example, they crated and shipped a bumper to California, ensuring secure packaging and timely delivery. This suggests they accommodate long-distance requests, though specifics on shipping costs or logistics may require direct inquiry.
5. What is the process for purchasing parts?
Customers typically contact the yard directly (via phone or visit) to inquire about part availability. Staff assist in locating parts, as seen in the case of a customer who found a bumper after calling ahead. For in-person visits, parts are removed from vehicles on-site, and purchases are finalized during business hours.
6. Do they offer warranties or guarantees?
The search results do not explicitly mention warranties. Given the nature of salvage yards, parts are typically sold as-is, with no implied guarantees. However, one review notes that a bumper shipped to California arrived in good condition and performed well after professional installation, suggesting quality control in their selection process.
7. How reliable are their services?
Reviews are mixed. Positive experiences highlight helpful staff (e.g., Donnie and Barbara) and successful part sourcing. Scam artists. I asked this guy the day before how much it would be for parts for my Chevy Celebrity. He told me $175. I show up the day of to buy the parts and he tells me $250. What's his reasoning for this? Because my Celebrity is a Eurosport. How ridiculous. Every junk yard that I deal with has the same price for every part category no matter the Make/Model/ or Trim of the vehicle. Why should it be more just because my car is a Eurosport? This is a 25 year old car for crying out loud, and not one that is considered a “classic” by any means. I could understand chargin more for an exotic car part, or rare car parts, but this is a run of the mill Chevy Sedan. I think this guy is running some kind of scam trying to get you to come in for one price and then giving some bs reason when you get there about why the price should be higher. Sorry guy, but scam someone else. I'll wait until Pick n pull or Liberty U pull has my parts and I'll live with a busted up front end for a while. Update: The parts that I needed were only $60 at pick n pull, also I had done some research and have discovered that there is no difference between the regular and “Eurosport” model of my vehicle for the part that I needed. This guy really is a scam artist.

Doesn't even deserve a star man. Sold me an engine for 700. Found out after I was out of warranty that the engine had no compression. They sold me a trashed engine! Shady company. Never come here. They do not deserve to be in business with that attitude.
