The Boise and Garden City yards are less than a mile apart in a straight line, so you can check both in one morning. Nampa and Caldwell are about 6 miles apart, and Nampa is about 14 miles from the Boise yard. Twin Falls is the outlier, roughly 120 miles from the Boise area.

The company says its roots go back to the 1960s on Garrity Boulevard in Nampa.

What are the hours and the admission fee?

DayPosted hoursLast admission
Monday to Saturday8:00 AM to 6:00 PM5:30 PM
Sunday9:00 AM to 4:00 PM3:30 PM

Public listings show 5:30 PM and 3:30 PM as closing times. Those are the last admission times, which is the number that matters if you are driving in.

Admission is $1 in cash or by debit card. The company says the fee covers the use of restrooms and wheelbarrows, and small items such as fuses, light bulbs, bolts and clips. Sunday hours are uncommon in Idaho. Of the 88 Idaho yards in our directory, nine list Sunday hours, and five of those nine are Jalopy Jungle.

What are the yard rules?

SubjectRule
Age16 or older, no exceptions
ToolsBring your own. None are sold, rented or lent
PowerNo outlets. Hand tools or battery tools only
Not allowedJacks, torches or open flames, body saws, alcohol, smoking, glass
FootwearClosed-toe shoes. No sandals
ToolboxesInspected on the way in and on the way out
Parts you bring for matchingMust be inspected and marked by an employee first
Heavy partsThe yard supplies lifts for engines, transmissions and truck beds

The cars sit on stands, which is why jacks are banned and why you should never move a stand. Bring a second person for anything heavy. The site also warns that assemblies such as brakes and axles are priced by component, so remove only the part you need.

We did not find a parts price list on the company's website. Ask for the price at the counter before you start on a large part. Our junkyard tool checklist lists what to bring.

How do you see what vehicles are in stock?

The inventory page lists vehicles by yard. It updates once a day at midnight, so a car set out or crushed today shows up tomorrow. Colors are not listed, and parts are not tracked, so a car on the list may already be missing the part you want.

The company gives one useful tip for trucks: search every name the model goes by. A Chevrolet Silverado may be filed as C1500, K1500 or 1500, and a Dodge Ram as D150 or Ram 1500.

Can you return a part?

Yes, within 60 days, for an exchange or store credit. There are no cash refunds. You need a receipt dated within the last 60 days, and the part has to carry the yard's mark. Ask an employee to mark the part when you pay, because an unmarked part cannot be returned.

Does Jalopy Jungle buy cars?

Yes, including cars that do not run. The site says the evaluation is free and can be done by phone in under five minutes, and that it tows at no charge. Its FAQ adds that it typically pays more when you deliver the car yourself.

The title rule is strict. The FAQ says you must be the legal owner with the title in hand, and that the company cannot buy on a registration or by any other method. The site does not say how you are paid, so ask when you call.

Compare before you accept. Our junk car value calculator gives a starting figure and you can request a cash offer online. For other yards, see Idaho junkyards or every U Pull It yard in the directory.
