Questions people ask

What are the hours for OmniSource Corporation?

OmniSource is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM. It’s closed Saturday and Sunday.

Can I get parts the same day?

Yes. Customers bring their own tools, find the vehicle with the needed part, remove it, pay at the scale house, and leave the same day.

Do they buy junk cars?

OmniSource processes junk vehicles for scrap metal but doesn’t list a direct cash-for-cars service on its site. For selling an old vehicle, local cash-for-junk-cars businesses handle those transactions.

What parts are available?

The yard carries used parts from donor vehicles including engines, transmissions, alternators, starters, body panels, interior trim, and other mechanical and body components. Inventory changes daily based on incoming vehicles.

How does self-service salvage work?

Customers drive onto the scale, get paperwork, go to the yard entrance with their license, find the vehicle listed on their ticket, remove the part by hand, then return to the scale house to pay and leave. Staff direct customers to vehicles and confirm parts removal.

Is overnight parking allowed?

No. Customers report that overnight parking isn’t permitted, so plan to finish your visit and leave by closing time.

They took my delivery even though I was running late, and they unloaded me quick. Super nice group to deal with.

Fast service here, but the layout can be a real headache. I got stuck waiting for a train to clear the road twice in one visit. If traffic’s moving slow and folks won’t let you through, you’re just stuck until the train passes.

Start by exiting I-69 at X 305 and head east on Illinois Street. Turn left at Jefferson, which is two lanes at the light, then make a quick right onto Ardmore. Be careful on Taylor—there’s a tall curb that’ll eat your tire if you hug it too tight, plus a white arrow on the map telling you to swing into oncoming traffic. Pull into the first scale entrance you see. If you need dock seven, back up at that wide spot past the dock. Whatever you do, don’t try a U-turn around the building’s corner.

Got in and out in under an hour. No waiting around, no unnecessary steps—just showed up, did what I needed to do, and left. ---

The whole process was a breeze—no hassle at all. The guys helping me unload were actually nice to talk to, which is rare in places like this. The woman working the scale took the time to walk me through everything step by step, no confusion. And hey, if you ever need to park overnight, there’s a spot nearby that’s dead quiet—no noise, no crowds, just space to stretch out. ---

Coming from Indy? Take 69, exit at 305 for Illinois Road, then go about 2.5 miles. Hang a left on West Jefferson, then a right on Catalpa. You’ll see a scale sign—that’s your entrance. The guard at the gate? Super friendly, no hassle. And if you’re emptying a load, it’ll take you about half an hour, tops.

Thirty minutes from start to finish—no waiting, no runaround. Just pull onto the scale, grab your paperwork, and take it to the security shack by the scale. The people there are solid, no attitude, no nonsense. One thing to note: no overnight parking, so don’t plan on sticking around after dark. ---

They moved fast even though the place was packed, which I didn’t expect. The only downside is finding the spot—it’s not exactly obvious, but once you’re there, it’s straightforward. For anyone who’s never been here before, here’s the deal: follow the signs for the **TRUCK SCALE**, pull onto the scale, set your brakes, and head inside the scale house. The guard will tell you what to do next. **Pro tip:** You *have* to wear safety glasses, a hard hat, a hi-vis vest, and steel-toe boots. I had the vest, and they lent me a hard hat since I forgot mine. I was wearing sneakers, and honestly? Nobody even mentioned it. ---
