The yard closes 30 minutes before the store, so 5:30 PM is when you have to be out of the rows, not when you should arrive. The map and reviews are on the Pull-A-Part Birmingham page in our directory, and the other yards in the chain are under Pull-A-Part locations.

How do you find out which cars are on the yard?

Pull-A-Part keeps a list of cars, not parts. Its FAQ says staff cannot tell you by phone whether a part is still on a car or what shape it is in. The vehicle search on its site lets you pick Birmingham, a make, a model and a year. A second tab, New On Yard, shows cars set out in the last 24 hours, 48 hours or 7 days. A third tab looks up other models that carry the same part.

If the car you need is not there, the Notify Me form sends a text or an email when one arrives. Set it up before you drive across town for a car that may already be stripped.

Bring your own tools. The cars sit on stands, so you do not need a jack, and the yard supplies an A-frame and hoist for engines and transmissions. Our junkyard tool checklist covers what to pack.

What does a part cost?

Each kind of part has one price at a given yard, whatever the make, model or year. The parts pricing page shows the list once you choose Birmingham. Taxes, core charges and an environmental fee are added at the register.

Two things are never for sale. Pull-A-Part says it does not sell catalytic converters, and it does not sell driver or front passenger airbags.

The company also publishes a fee list for having staff pull a part for you. On September 29, 2026 that list showed $25 for an alternator or a starter, $120 for a transmission and $150 for an engine, on top of the price of the part. The page says not every part is pulled at every store and does not name the stores, so ask at the Birmingham counter.

What does the warranty cover?

ItemTerms
Most parts30 days, with the receipt. Exchange or store credit, no cash refund
Tires and wheels3 days
Hybrid batteries, fluids, fusesSold as is
Extended warranty120 days on some parts, for an extra fee
Core depositRefunded in cash within 30 days, with the receipt

The returned part must carry the yard's original marking and must not be taken apart. Store credit does not expire and works at any Pull-A-Part. Keep the receipt, or join the VIP club, which stores receipts online and gives 3% back in credit on parts.

Does Pull-A-Part Birmingham buy cars?

Yes. It buys junk, damaged and used cars and tows them without charge. You can call, fill in the quote form, or drive the car in. Its Birmingham page says pickup takes between 24 hours and 3 days, and that payment takes about 20 minutes once the truck arrives.

The quote assumes a complete car: engine, transmission and catalytic converter present, all wheels on, and doors, hood and trunk in place. The page says a quote is good only for the day it is given, that it cannot buy a car with a loan or lien on it, and that in Alabama you need the title. If yours is lost, it points you to the Alabama Department of Revenue for a replacement.

Two details on the site do not match. The location page gives car buying hours of 8 to 6 every day, while the selling page says you can drive a car in Monday through Saturday. One page says cash and another says a check. Ask both questions when you take the quote. Then compare it with a second one: you can request a cash offer from our form.
