Overview

Hooper's Used Auto Parts - Dallas, NC

Hooper's Used Auto Parts is an auto salvage yard in Dallas, North Carolina. Customers can find used car parts, scrap metal, and other automotive components here. It’s a common spot for DIY mechanics, car owners needing repairs, and anyone looking for affordable alternatives to new parts. The business has been around for years, with a steady flow of vehicles coming in for dismantling. You bring your own tools and pay by the pound for the parts you take. The yard also takes in junk cars for scrap but doesn’t buy vehicles for resale.

Services & What to Expect

Hooper's is a salvage yard, meaning you’re responsible for finding and removing parts. The yard has a mix of vehicles—cars, trucks, and SUVs—in various stages of disassembly. Parts range from engines and transmissions to body panels, interior pieces, and electrical components. Don’t expect professional disassembly or cleaned parts—you’ll need to prep them before installation.

  • Bring your own tools. The yard doesn’t provide any, so you’ll need wrenches, sockets, or whatever else is required for the job.
  • Find parts yourself. Vehicles are grouped by make and model, but you’ll have to search for what you need.
  • Pay by the pound. Pricing is based on the weight of the parts you take, not individual components.
  • Parts are sold as-is. Some may need cleaning or minor repairs before you can use them.
  • Drop off junk cars. The yard accepts scrap vehicles but doesn’t buy cars for resale. For selling a junk car, check out our cash for junk cars page .

What Parts Are Available?

Inventory changes often as new vehicles are brought in. Common parts include:

  • Engines and transmissions (domestic and foreign)
  • Body panels (doors, fenders, hoods, bumpers)
  • Interior parts (seats, dashboards, consoles)
  • Suspension and steering (control arms, ball joints, tie rods)
  • Braking systems (calipers, rotors, brake pads)
  • Electrical components (starters, alternators, wiring harnesses)
  • Exhaust systems (headers, catalytic converters, mufflers)

The yard doesn’t specialize in rare or classic car parts, but you might find components from older vehicles depending on recent acquisitions.

What to Bring

  • A list of the parts you need, along with the vehicle make and model for reference
  • Basic hand tools (wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers)
  • Gloves and safety glasses (parts can be dirty or sharp)
  • A way to transport parts (some components are bulky)
  • Cash or a debit/credit card (the yard doesn’t take checks)

I was referred to Hoopers for a part for my 1987 Thunderbird, and Shanita handled everything. She was polite and helpful, though I probably didn’t explain what I needed clearly enough. They thought they had the right part, so they shipped it straight to me. Turned out it was close but not quite right. When I called her about it, she didn’t hesitate—full refund went through right away. Can’t ask for better than that, and I’ll definitely go back if I need anything else. Thanks to Steve in Alabama too.

If you need a part, just go to Hoopers. The folks behind the counter are the friendliest people you’ll meet. We grabbed a couple parts from them—one didn’t fit, so they got the right one and now my AC blows colder than anything we’ve had before. Thanks to Hoopers for everything they know and do. I tell everyone about this place.

Hoopers was a real find—the whole crew was on point from start to finish. Chris really stood out, answering every question I had, tracking down exactly what I needed, and making sure I left without any hassle. You don’t run into service like that much anymore, and it made all the difference. The prices were straight and everyone treated me right. If you want parts that work and people who actually care, this is where you go.

We called Hoopers multiple times to check on a hard-to-find part before sending someone on a nine-hour drive. Four times the day before, they said they still had it. So after nearly ten hours in the car, we show up only to find out it was sold two weeks prior. Even after calling the day before to confirm. They offered to let our guy grab whatever else he wanted from the car and even gave cash to make up for it, but it wasn’t enough. We won’t be going back, no matter what.

When I first called about a transmission, the guy on the phone seemed to understand what I needed. By the time I got there, though, things took way too long—almost two hours—so I ended up late for work. I told the guy waiting while they pulled the part that I needed to leave, even after 45 minutes, but it didn’t seem to matter much. They need to move faster when customers come in for something specific.

Brandon in parts at Hooper’s is the real deal—no runaround, no hassle. I walked in needing a specific piece, and he not only had it but made the whole process smooth. Every time I come here, he’s got what I need before I even ask. Seriously, the guy’s a lifesaver. ---

My 2013 Silverado needed a part, and I was ready to hunt all over town for it. Chris at Hooper’s didn’t just find it—he had it pulled and ready when I showed up. Five stars? That’s not even close to enough. They treat customers like family, not just another transaction. ---

The staff here are absolute pros, but Chris? He’s next-level. I was in a bind with my car, and he didn’t just help—he made sure I left with exactly what I needed. The selection is huge, and everyone knows their stuff. No guessing, no wasted time. Just good, honest service.

Qua was a lifesaver—went way out of his way to help us find the right part for our car. Dude’s a hard worker, and those are rare these days. You guys got lucky with him!

This place was a nightmare. I called every single day for a week, asking about a part I ordered, and they kept saying, *"Oh, it’ll ship today."* Spoiler: it never did. They just said that to shut me up. Now I’m out money and time, and I wouldn’t send my worst enemy here. Avoid at all costs. ---
