Short answer: A yonke is a junkyard, and to find one near you the fastest route is junkyards near me, which lists yards by state and city with their hours and phone numbers. Our directory has 3,606 yards. Almost none has the word yonke in its name, so search a map for "auto salvage" or "used auto parts" as well. Call before you go and ask whether the car you need is in the yard.
Last checked: September 29, 2026. Counts by state and city are from the 3,606 published listings in our directory. Entry fees and yard rules are from pullnsave.com and indyupullit.com. Spanish-language websites were checked at pullapart.com and upullandpay.com. This article replaces a 2025 version.
How do you search for a yonke near you?
Search in both languages. Spanish speakers say yonke, but American yards register under English names. Of the 3,606 yards we list, 716 have "salvage" in the name, 705 have "auto parts" and 686 have "recycling". None has "yonke".
| You need | Search for | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| A cheap part and you have tools | U-Pull-It, pick and pull, self-service | You pay a small entry fee and take the part off yourself |
| A part, tested and ready | Used auto parts, auto salvage | Staff pull the part. It costs more |
| To sell a car that does not run | Cash for cars, junk car buyer | An offer and a tow |
| To sell scrap metal | Scrap yard, metal recycling | Payment by weight. No parts for sale |
The first kind is the one most people mean by yonke. Our directory has 238 yards with "pull", "pick" or "self-service" in the name. Pick and pull near me lists them.
Which states have the most yonkes?
| State | Yards in our directory |
|---|---|
| Florida | 321 |
| California | 301 |
| Georgia | 243 |
| Illinois | 241 |
| Alabama | 234 |
| Indiana | 229 |
| Arizona | 206 |
These are counts of what we list, not a census. Our coverage of Texas is thin, with 44 yards, and the state has many more than that. We are adding to it.
By city, Phoenix leads with 116 yards, followed by Los Angeles with 55, Indianapolis with 51, Opa-locka in Florida with 30 and Chicago with 28. Yards cluster. In Phoenix, 40 of the 116 share one ZIP code, 85041, and 23 more are in 85009, so one morning can cover several.

How do you find a yonke that speaks Spanish?
No directory field reliably tells you, ours included, so there are three practical checks.
Look at the website. Two of the national self-service chains publish a full Spanish version of their site: Pull-A-Part and U-Pull-&-Pay. Pull-N-Save, which has yards in Arizona, Utah and California, has a Spanish-language advertisement on its own video channel.
Look at the neighbourhood. In cities with large Latino populations, the person at the counter very often speaks Spanish even when the sign and the website are in English.
Call and ask. "ΒΏHablan espaΓ±ol?" takes five seconds. If the answer is no, have the year, make, model and engine size written down in English. Part names on price lists are in English: alternator, starter, fender, hood, door.
Pull-N-Save's own Spanish-language advertisement for its Phoenix self-service yard, published January 2013. It is the company's video and it is in Spanish.
What should you bring?
| Bring | Why |
|---|---|
| A few dollars for the gate | Self-service yards charge to enter. Indy U-Pull-It in Indianapolis charges $2 and Pull-N-Save lists $3 |
| Hand tools and a cordless impact wrench | Yards do not lend tools. Most ban torches, jacks and anything that cuts |
| Closed-toe shoes, gloves, eye protection | The ground is gravel, glass and metal |
| Water and a hat | There is no shade between the rows |
| The old part, if you have it | To match it, and to avoid the core charge |
| Year, make, model and engine size | The counter will ask, and interchange depends on it |
Leave jacks and torches at home, and check the age limit. Pull-N-Save, for one, does not let anyone under 16 into the yard. Our tool checklist has the full list.
